Agilent Cary 5000 Features

  • Measure beyond 8.0 absorbance units with reference beam attenuation.
  • Measure 175 to 3300 nm using a PbSmart NIR detector for lower stray light and extended photometric range.
  • Cary WinUV modular software with powerful analysis and enhanced transfer and report export capabilities.
  • Versatile set of accessories for materials research, including spectral and diffuse reflectance.
  • Variable slit widths (down to 0.01 nm) for optimum control over data resolution.
  • Large sample compartment with LockDown mechanism for quick changes and positioning—for reproducible results.
  • Maximum light throughput using Schwarzchild coupling optics for higher accuracy at low transmission levels.
  • Minimal noise and stray light using a floating aluminum casting and double Littrow monochromator.
  • It extended dynamic range by attenuating the reference beam to balance double beam signal levels.
  • Nitrogen purging—separate purging in the sample and monochromator compartments to reduce oxygen and water vapor in the ultra-violet.

How It Works

Optical design

cary-uv-vis-nir-optical-lineage-agilent

For decades, the Cary design philosophy has aimed to serve those who must push performance limits yet have an instrument adaptable to many applications. From source to detector, the Cary 5000 provides the performance and flexibility needed for academic research or production quality assurance needs. Our diffuse reflectance accessories have various detection options and a sandwich detector for multi-angle specular reflectance and transmission using the Cary Universal Measurement Accessory (UMA).

Superior photometric range and linearity in the UV-Vis

Avoid time-consuming samples and standard dilutions, and confidently measure the most challenging samples. Cary UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometers provide the widest photometric range available across the broadest wavelength range—with absorbances exceeding eight from the UV-Vis to the NIR.

Wide dynamic range quantitative analysis of aqueous potassium permanganate (left) demonstrates excellent photometric accuracy and range. Measurement at 555 nm permits analysis from 0.1–500 ppm without dilution.

Lock it down and walk away.

cary-5000-uv-vis-nir-accessories-agilent

Cary UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometers feature the unique LockDown mechanism that lets you quickly and reproducibly position your accessories in the instrument. Confidently mount any accessory in the sample compartment in the same place, time-after time—eliminating tools and time-consuming alignment procedures. Configure multiple LockDown plates with different measurement configurations and swap and lock each one in, when needed, in three easy steps.
